The Toyota Harrier Hybrid is a mid-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle first introduced to the car market in 2004. It is built on Toyota New MC platform which the car shares with several Toyota’s models like RAV4 and Prius. The front is dominated by huge five-bar lower grill which has thick chiseled boarder. It is flanked with fog lights. Above that is a slimmer grill with vertical bars. These elements are nicely joined by the headlights which curve to the side. The hood has two distinct creases on each side which continuous across the car’s side to its back. The vehicle has luxurious and quiet interior due to a strategically placed sound-absorbing and sound-blocking high-quality materials.The SUV is available with a Panoramic View Monitor system which incorporates videos from four cameras placed at the front and the back to improve lateral visibility. Other driver’s assist and safety features include: the Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system, a Pre-collision System with the automatic Pre-collision Brake Assist and Pre-collision Brakes, the Intelligent Clearance Sonar and a Drive-start Control.

The 2017 Toyota Harrier Hybrid will most likely get a 2.5-liter in-line 4-cylinder 2AR-FXE engine and a hybrid system as its predecessor. It is coupled with 7-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT). The engine is equipped with an Atkinson cycle and its geometrical compression ratio is 12.5:1. The battery will probably be a sealed nickel-metal hydride traction battery. When combined with the electric motor the system has a total output of 197 horsepower.The estimated fuel economy numbers stand at 21.8 km/L, while the vehicle has CO2 emission of 106 gCO2/km.

The ne Toyota Harrier Hybrid will be distribute only in Japan. The release date is not yet announced, but it is expected to be at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017. The starting price of the current model is around 3,713,143 Japanese Yen, which is around $30,8412 at the current currency rates.
