If you are shopping for your next midsize crossover sport utility vehicle which has a comfortable ride, spacious cabin and smooth powertrain, make sure to put the new 2017 Toyota Highlander on your check-out list. Considering its predecessor, this versatile model will have plenty to offer. The Toyota is hard at work to keep this model at the top of buyers list so we can expect upgrades here and there. But while we wait to see with what the manufacturer will surprise us, let’s see what we can expect of the upcoming Highlander.
Exterior and Interior
The new 2017 Toyota Highlander will most likely follow the design language of the current model. You can await sporty looking SUV spiced up with some bold elements like a large chrome-trimmed trapezoidal grill, muscular and dynamic character lines on the hood and the side and nicely-designed wraparound headlights and taillights. To round up the design, the Highlander will surely get 18-inch split 5-spoke alloy wheels on lower trims and 19-inch 5-spoke Chromtec alloy wheels on higher trims. As for the interior, the vehicle will probably offer seven- or eight-passenger seating layout, quiet and comfortable ride, and the latest technology upgrades.
Taking into account the current Highlander, we can assume that the new 2017 Toyota Highlander will be offered with two engines as well. The first one will most likely be a standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder and the second a 3.5-liter V6 for higher trims. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine produces 185 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and sends that power to front wheels. In a current version, it is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission which we can expect on upcoming model, too. The estimated fuel economy ratings are 22 miles per gallon combined (20 city/25 highway). The 3.5-liter V6 pumps out 270 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque and it is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Layouts include both two- and all-wheel drive. The estimated fuel economy stands at 21 miles per gallon combined (19 city/25 highway) for vehicles with front-wheel drive and 20 miles per gallon combined (18 city/24 highway) for the car equipped with four-wheel drive.Depending on a trim level, the towing capacity can range from 1,500 pounds to up to 5,000 pounds.
