The 2017 Toyota Vigo will be a mild refresh of one of the iconic truck featuring a versatile vehicle, offering outstanding degrees of comfort for occupants in addition to flexible use of space. Apart from changes to the sheet metal and slight improvements to the interior it will still pack the same reliable powertrain including efficient gasoline and diesel powered units. And if we are to believe rumors it will also be sold in the US market too, and there is strong indication that it will replace the Tacoma as Toyotas flagship pickup.
Exterior and Interior
The Toyota Vigo has always boasted impeccable off-road credentials. This time with the 2017 Toyota Vigo it is no different thanks in most part to its stiff chassis and robust suspension. The model will be offered in three body types: single cab, extra cab and double cab. Moreover, for the 2017 model Toyota has introduced a more aggressive design of the front grille and headlights, which are now including LED technology. The taillights too will be restyled in such a way as to make them exciting for a new generation of customers.
Inside, we are bound to see the easily recognizable low-slung cabin and tilted tailgate again. There is a possibility of a wider tray to match that of the competitive models such as Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok. A rearview camera will be placed in the tailgate. The wheels will be 17-inch alloy, plus heavy-duty tires. The previous model offers attractive chrome accents on the exterior panels, air intake, fog lamps and rear lights, along with a sturdy underguard at the front, and were hoping to see all these in the new model too.The cabin was comfortable and roomy with quality textile on the seats, and the standard safety features like airbags for the front seats and along the sides. There have been some complaints as regards the extensive use of plastic on the dashboard and the door panels, so we expect Toyota will address these issues.
Rumor has it that the 2017 Toyota Vigo will be equipped with the same reliable 2.7-liter four-cylinder, or 4.0-litre V6 petrol engine, or the popular fuel-efficient 3.0-liter turbo diesel, all carried over from the previous model. Whatever the engine options in the new Toyota Vigo Hilux, they will likely be coupled to both six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and two- or four-wheel-drive.
